Mrs Morris-Apr 18, 2023
My husband was having a medical eye emergency and was told there was an ophthalmologist on staff and was given an appointment. When he arrived he was told there was an issue with his med insurance and not meeting the deductable. That was not true. They did not look at his vision insurance. They did not communicate the insurance issue in a way he could understand. He did not know what questions to ask. They told him how much they would charge him, which he was not prepared for. Due to the distress of his condition and general lack of knowledge about insurances he became overwhelmed and left without being seen. Perhaps a little more patient focused customer service with compassion could have diffused the situation. We now have an appt with an ophthalmologist in a couple of days. We hope his condition does not get worse or he permanently loses his vision. I have worked in medical as well as optical. I understand patient focused customer service with compassion. I am not convinced this is how this practice operates.
